Spell Of Freedom Hypno-Experiment (Meiro Koizumi, 2021)

dramaturgy of sound,theatricality,transpandemic stage

A twenty-minute online hypnosis session.

Piece created as part of an online exhibition by 11 artists aiming to reinterpret the concept of distance due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Through a website available in Japanese and English, artworks were presented that revolve around various perspectives on distance, including interpersonal distance, the distance between humans and the Earth, and the distinction between physical and virtual spaces. This project serves as an experiment to gauge susceptibility to hypnosis, presenting multiple suggestions while acknowledging the potential feeling of strangeness experienced by the viewer. However, it reassures that only those who willingly participate can be hypnotized, as the phenomenon is based on suggestion.
