La maldición de la corona (La Fura Dels Baus, 2020)

distributed space,mediatized theatre,transpandemic stage

Performance during the confinement due to the state of alarm in the face of the coronavirus pandemic via the internet of a piece inspired by Shakespeare’s Macbeth, in which thirty performers intervene individually and remotely, live.

Directed by Pep Gatell, this “experiment” – as it is called by the company itself – born within the Fundación Épica follows the narrative of Macbeth in connection with the pandemic situation in which the piece is born. Requiring by necessity the presence of each performer in a window, it makes extensive use of fragmentation to arrange each scene in a different combination of windows, using live scenes, pre-recorded video, 3D images, text, visual effects and music. For the audience the reception is unique through the screen, although the interaction between all participants takes place in real time through the internet. La Fura dels Baus is a pioneering company in the exploration of technologies on stage.
