Estación espacial (Àlex Peña, 2020)

mediatized theatre,transpandemic stage

Live narration through Zoom with three performers that seeks to travel from the amplitude of space to intimacy, putting in dialogue concepts such as intimacy or surveillance in an alternation of images inserted from applications such as Google Earth and the performance of the performers.

Reflecting on intimacy and its invasion in the historical moment of confinement by the covid-19 pandemic, the piece alternates live action by the three participating performers with images inserted from applications such as SpiedLife, Google Earth or Skyline, recordings, reconstructions of 3D spaces and images from mobile phones. Their aim is to highlight surveillance or voyeurism, based on points common to the human experience of confinement. Its creators say that with Google Earth they were able to travel inside the dome of the International Space Station and, then, they realised one thing: both in the highest sky (the International Space Station) and in the lowest (the roofs of our homes), they share the same blue microfibre cloth from Mercadona.

Premiered on 23 April online as part of #TeatroConfinado at the Teatro de la Abadía in Madrid.
