Complete works: table top Shakespeare: at home (Tim Etchels / Forced Entertainment, 2020)

mediatized theatre,transpandemic stage

A journey through all of Shakespeare’s plays using everyday items such as kitchen utensils and bathroom utensils. Planned years before as a theatrical piece, with the confinement they are adapted to digital format.

The initial version of the pieces was created in 2015 under the premise that an actor would create a condensed version of each Shakespeare play using everyday objects. The narration of each piece would fall to one member of a team of six actors. They propose a way of retelling the Bard of Avon’s classics with a certain comic tone in which the characters are embodied by these objects. With the confinement of 2020, the company rethought the pieces for an “At Home” version in which they could take advantage of the tool of telepresence for the approach of their object narrative. Throughout its career, the company has shown great interest in the search for unconventional theatrical forms, where the virtual element has become important.

Each piece was released online from 17 September to 15 November 2020.
