Alice In The Pandemic (Jorge Sosa and Elena Araoz, 2020)

mediatized theatre,telepresence,transpandemic stage

Described as a digital opera about the elasticity of time.

An adaptation in the format of an online animated opera of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. The opera features three main artists and a choir, and it unfolds online through a three-dimensional environment developed by its creators, resembling a first-person video game. The setting takes place in a desolate city that leads to a strange amusement park, which serves as an entrance to the rabbit hole. The animation of the characters was based on the actors’ faces and gestures, creating a form of digital puppets.

Premiered online on October 22, 2020.
