Abyssalis (Patricia Peñalver, 2022)

immersion,interaction,theatre

Show inspired by the oceanic abyss as a metaphor for fear in which attendees are invited to participate to the extent that they wish.

The two actresses in the play propose an immersion into the abyssal trenches, starting from the setting of a beach. As a metaphor for immersion in one’s own fears, the protagonists find themselves in the depths, evoking memories and fears that allow them to normalize one’s own darkness. Upon arriving at the beach, the attendees are invited to take off their shoes. As the narrative progresses, the spectators are invited to participate if they voluntarily wish to do so, which allows them to choose between participation or just observation.
