Macho Man (Álex Rigola/Heartbreak Hotel, 2018)

dramaturgy of sound,installation,interaction,intermedial,theatricality

The spectator visits various rooms in which different aspects of gender violence are presented, in different areas: the couple, the family, the workplace, social and judicial.

This is a theatre installation-documentary show on gender violence, which seeks to “awaken the spectator’s conscience about one of the most worrying issues in today’s society”. Visitors are even confronted with others in the first spaces they visit. The narrative thread is provided by a woman who has suffered gender violence through the headphones worn by each visitor. The twelve rooms, whose content was advised by a psychologist who is an expert in gender violence, contain materials such as videos, audios, drawings, photographs, legal documents and testimonies, all of them of real origin.

Premiered on 16 November 2018 at the Temporada Alta Festival in Girona.
