A Day (The Cherry, 2020)

distributed space,mediatized theatre,telepresence,transpandemic stage

Live performance over the internet using real-life settings and chroma key technology.

Four characters with a mysterious connection assist each other from a distance throughout a day, with each of the 24 hours forming a chapter of the 90-minute play. This is an online version of a piece by playwright Gabrielle Chapdelaine. The main characters are Nico, who fantasizes about imaginary friends; Harris, who goes out partying relentlessly but without enjoyment; Alfonso, who feels nostalgic for his lost relationship with his parents; and Debs, who struggles to even get dressed. The four performances take place in different locations and are edited and mixed in real-time for broadcasting.

Premiered in English on November 14, 2020, on the internet.
